DECA
explores student store possibility

Rumors are flying around about a new student
store opening up at SM North. DECA, a marketing club, is planning
on using the store as a competition piece. "
At the state competition you can do written
events, and at our school only seniors can do that,"said senior
Amanda Bonewits, co-president of DECA. "That's what we're
doing with the student store. We're doing the entrepreneurship
written event."
According to senior and DECA co-president
Rodger Crider, they hope to provide school supplies, North
apparel and snack food. The thing is, they can't have any
of the same merchandise as any other program.
"When we do this we can't conflict with any
other items people are selling," said Brook Hancock, the DECA
sponsor. "We can't have the same food as the cafeteria, we
can't sell the same clothing that the Booster parents sell.
Everything we sell has to be different."
The location of the future store has not been
decided yet, granting that there are enough funds to put it
together at all. If the project does get the go ahead, which
probably won't be until May, it won't be open for business
until next year.
